Here is that salad at baker brothers that was so yummy!
Kowloon...Oriental salad with mixed greens, roasted chicken, crunchy rice noodles, red, yellow and green bell peppers, topped with mandarin oranges and toasted almonds.

Sorry
Sorry that I haven't blogged lately, I know so many of you are anxious to hear what I have to say ;) I don't have a working computer at home so school is the only time I really can get on one and I've been so stinkin busy!
Let's see, I had a pretty relaxing weekend, yesterday I went on a nice long walk because it was beautiful outside. Today I feel like pooh, my body is tired and my throat hurts so I better not be getting something!! Although October and March/April are usually the two times I get sick a year so I'm due I guess.
I'm still working out and eating healthy, this weekend Matt and I went and ate at Baker brothers and I ordered a salad with dressing on the side! I know right?? It was really good and i figured out I could make it at home, it was called their Kowloo or something like that salad. It was an asian dressing with little crunchies in it, red peppers and chicken. It was really good!
Things that keep me motivated are as followed:
1. Fitting in to dresses for weddings
2. Watching the biggest loser, I bawl my eyes out everytime and those people are HUGE and losing weight like nobody's business, it's so inspirational!
3. Knowing I can fit in to my winter pants again this winter :) I haven't worn pants in a long time because I'm too self concious about my thighs and waist so Pants HERE I COME!
Happy Tuesday!

Losing a Pet
Matt called me last night to tell me his families beloved dog peanut had died of kidney failure. She was 14. I had met Peanut and she was never very pleasant with me, but she was a cute dog. She was no bigger then a football and when I would come have dinner with matt and his family she would come running out barking nipping at my feet, it was actually pretty funny.
I remember when we had to put our first family pet down, Sheba. She knew it was her time to go and it was a really sad day, and then very sad when we came home for the first time and she wasn't out there to greet us at the back fence. I'll never forget the sadness that comes with losing a pet. I know Matt is sad today but he knows she's in a better place.
Peanut you'll be missed!
On a brighter note, my sister found the dress I had posted on a previous post on sale for 100 dollars! I was excited to go and get it after school and it's now hanging proudly in my closet ready to be worn in Novemeber when I've reached my goal weight then :) Thanks Em!

Busy
This school year has proven itself to be vastly different then the years before it. I don't think I stop once I get to school, I'm constantly teaching or copying, or learning a new lesson etc. It's been great though and I'm thankful to be at a school where I have so many friends and great coworkers.
Still working out, still watching what I eat. We went to eat Mexican food this weekend and I think I had two chips, which are my favorite thing. I'm learning that if I'm going somewhere kind of fattening for dinner I eat a little snack beforehand so I don't indulge as much, so I had a handful of almonds before I left for dinner, it kept my chip eating to a minimum! But the soup and quesadillas were totally worth my points!!
Football season has begun and I'm not much of a fan for college football because I didn't have a team at OBU but watching the Cowboys last night in their new stadium, while disappointing is so much more fun for me!
The week ahead is a busy one, but it should be a great one!

Weighing in
I have weighed myself and by some crazy miracle I have officially lost 4 pounds. I'm not gonna lie when I say I'm not going to miss those four pounds. According to my weight watchers tracker that's too much weight to lose in one week they like for us to stick to 2 pounds but hey this week may only be 2 pounds you just never know! I hate getting on the scale I don't like it. But I keep telling myself it's motivating me to see those numbers going down, even if it's only a little at a time.
I found out this weekend I have another wedding to attend in Oct. for one of Matt's good guy friends. So that pushes me more to really keep it up so I can find something pretty to wear! Even though there are days that are hard I gotta keep focused on the goal at hand. I HATE making my weight be a central focus right now which is why I'm trying not so much to focus on the weight loss as I am on the getting healthy part and making healtheir choices.
I'm looking in to getting a personal trainer once a week at my gym, I'm thinking it would be really good for me and I could use those workouts on the days I am not being trained and that will also help keep me in line with my weight goals if someone is watching me! I guess we shall see.
As for dinner tonight, some grilled chicken with bbq sauce, brown rice, and green beans! Yum!

9/11
8 years ago today I was sitting in my Aquatic Science class (yes that's as far as my science went!!) Watching the towers on fire, then falling to the ground only moments later. I cried, surrounded by classmates of whom none I was friends with, Aquatic sci wasn't really where all the smart or cool kids were ;) I let tears roll down my face. I know that I'm a sensitive person, I hate watching Animal movies because more then likely an animal is going to get hurt or die and I can't deal with that. Anyway, watching the events unfold all day you couldn't hear a pin drop in that school. The only sound you heard was the tv's going in each room. It is a day I'll never forget.
I remember I came home that day and continued to watch it. That evening as I was laying in bed I kept thinking I was hearing airplanes flying over us even though planes were grounded, and I went and crawled in bed with Emily.
We each have our own story of where we were, and what we were doing when we heard the news. It's amazing how we each have such strong opinions about politics and what leaders aren't doing what etc, but when a tragedy like this happens, how quickly we are as Americans to come together and be there for each other, and that's something I'll never forget.

Wedding Season

In the month of November I have 3 weddings to go to. They're all on a different weekend and all with different people. My goal is to be able to fit in to this dress from Anthropologie. I haven't shopped there in a long time because I can't fit in to their clothes right now and that's depressing! I love that store even if it's expensive. Anyway I love this dress and have had my eye on it for about a month now. I'm hoping it will be in their sale items soon, but I figure I'll buy it in a smaller size and have that as my goal for November. I'm the kind of person that wants to change over night, but let's face it Rome wasn't built in a day. I'm working hard and eating better then I have and I can tell I have much more energy during the day. I don't focus on the end result, if you ever go to a weight watchers meeting they tell you to focus on today's goal, which mine is, eat healthy and move around a lot!
Even on days I can't get to the gym I feel ok because I teach 6 classes straight 4 days out of 5 and I'm constantly on my feet, teaching dances, walking around the room, beating an instrument etc. Plus I walk around our school building all the time, I hardly have a second to myself. I love going to the gym though and walking on the treadmill and lifting my weights. I know that as I'm tracking my points and activity points I can include the times when I'm up acting like a crazy person in front of my kiddos!
All right, well have a happy Wed!
